Volcanoes in Guanacaste Costa Rica
|
Guanacaste is a region where the volcanic activity is present in the Cordillera Volcanica de Guanacaste, or the Guanacaste Volcano Range. The Guanacaste Volcano Range is the largest and longest volcanic range in Costa Rica, including volcanoes like the Rincon de la Vieja volcano, the Miravalles Volcano, the Tenorio Volcano, and other lesser known volcanoes like the Cacao and the Orosi. The Guanacaste Volcano Range can be seen from almost all of Guanacaste, especially from the lowlands. The Guanacaste Volcanoes also separate the tropical dry climate from the humid tropical rainy climate that arises from the Caribbean.

The top of the volcanoes are covered by tropical cloud forest, full of lush evergreen vegetation, and dense and alive wildlife and habitats. The volcanoes in Guanacaste are also quiet active. The Rincon de la Vieja is an active volcano with steam geyser, hot mud pools, with bubbling mud coming out of the ground. Hot water, active craters, natural mineral water springs and other types of volcanic activity is not rare. The Miravalles Volcano is also very active, with hot mineral water springs, steam geysers and an active crater. The volcanoes in Guanacaste are the most important tourist attraction, alongside the beaches and the amazing national parks.
