There are 5 ways transportation options in Guanacaste. Most visitors visit Guanacaste after renting a car, hopefully a  4  x 4  which is recommended when interested in visiting some more secluded destinations, like un spoiled beaches, volcanoes or some national parks. There are car rental options in many located in Guanacaste, as well as other parts of Costa Rica. Some people rather fly using a local domestic airline. There are airstrips in Nosara, Tambor, Punta Islita, Tamarindo and Liberia. The third option of transportation is a shuttle service, which makes the same route on a daily basis. Shuttles are usually shared with other tourists coming and going to the same destination.

Other people prefer the option of a private minivan with guide and driver. This option is probably the most expensive. Last, there is also the possibility of using public transportation, including bus rides, taxi service and other means. Although Guanacaste may not seem like such a big area, especially if the visitor comes from Europe or the USA or Canada, it might take a few hours to go from one end to the other. Therefore, planning your transportation for your visit is very important.
