Guanacaste has many beaches and a long and beautiful coast. Therefore, quiet a few hotels and beach resorts have been built in areas where building is permitted. Large hotel chains like Hilton, Four Seasons, Marriott, Melia, Paradisus, Westin, Holiday Inn, Barcelo and other hotels have choosen Guanacaste as a beach destination for its gorgeous scenery and breathtaking beaches. The most developed areas are Papagayo, Tamarindo, Conchal, Flamingo, El Coco, Ocotal and Playa Hermosa. This is where the majority of large beach resorts can be found.

Other areas like Samara, Nosara, Carrillo, Guiones, Junquillal, Avellanas, Mal Pais and Santa Teresa have choosen a more small scale development, with small hotels, luxury or budget hotels, boutique hotels and enchanting beachfront hotels. Deopending on wether you are looking for luxury and as many facilities and services as possible, then we recommend the area north, and if you are more interested in low impact, small hotels and enchanting overwhelming nature, then the southern area is probably your choise.
